I would love to get a group together here in Virginia Beach. We definitely get the looks and positive comments when we are out on the street.
Yenny: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, and how you got involved with Land Paddling/Street SUP?
Cindy: My name is Cindy Kramer and I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I was born and raised in Annapolis Maryland. I have always been around water my whole life so outdoor sports are what makes me the happiest. I was a lifeguard, competitive swimmer, and plain beach bum.
I had a good friend that started SUP last year and he and another friend inspired me to get a board which quickly became 2 boards. I was hooked and was on the water lake or ocean anytime I could.
When the fall and winter came I really missed being outside paddle boarding and had contemplated getting a wetsuit but my husband reminded me that wetsuits are not the easiest thing to put on and off.
I had somehow heard about land paddle boarding and googled it. Once I saw what it was about I knew that this was better than getting a wetsuit, and ordered a Kahuna Creation for Christmas. I then read about Hammerhead boards which are made here in Virginia Beach. I thought how cool would it be to have a local board too? I ordered Hammerhead board so that my husband, and friends can go with me.
I work full time at a Defence Contracting Company so there is nothing better after a long day, or week getting out on the street enjoying the outdoors and getting a great workout. I do not belong to any groups but have been getting a lot of my friends interested in it and am going to partner with the Hammerhead guys to get some paddle rides scheduled. I would love to get a group together here in Virginia Beach. We definitely get the looks and positive comments when we are out on the street.
Yenny: Do you call it Land Paddling, Street SUP or something else?
Cindy: Land Paddle boarding. Not sure why I guess that was the easiest way for me to explain to others what it is
Yenny: Where do you usually like to ride?
Cindy: We have a neat trail that winds through the woods here in my neighborhood. I would love to get down to the boardwalk and ride my board there,
Yenny: What do you think are the prominent benefits with Land Paddling. How has it benefited you?
Cindy: It is a FANTASTIC workout! It is relaxing, exciting, good for you and fun. It gets you outside which is where I want to be always. It is very therapeutic to me. It keeps me grounded.
Yenny: Do you have any Land Paddling techniques your could share with the reader?
Cindy: Not at this time. Still working on mastering it.
Yenny: How can people contact contact you?
Cindy: They can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
